The Long Battle we experienced with DMX

Addiction is powerful, if you don’t learn to control it and take back your power. It CAN kill you. It has killed so many and yet has no bias. It shows up in any circle, family or friend. It has no preference.

We ALL have vices. Dark moments hidden in the shadows. But what about those who can’t hide in the shadow. Like DMX. What if we were able to see the magic of the person, but the vulnerability of a human?

Isn’t that exactly what we saw with X? Wasn’t this man a magician who couldn’t tame his inner beast? Don’t we all have that beast inside of us?

A vice can be anything. It is something that you will learn to control or in the end it will kill you. It will stay with you, even when you overcome it. It will be the most vivid vision you carry with you.

Drug addiction, specifically, is a vice that is more powerful than most. Yet, some do pull through, but it takes a lifetime of dedication.

And of course, many die at the hands of these drugs. I remember a saying that “People do drugs, drugs don’t do people.”

Don’t they?

Drugs are chemically compounded to form an invisible hold on our spirit. Drugs tie to our memory, our feelings and never let go. As someone who has battled addiction and watched it take my family, I feel now is an important time to look at the beast for what it is.

Our vice can be our death wish.

For DMX, his vice was a constant battle between his greatness and his defeat. It was something we all watched him struggle with on the sidelines. It is an epic story of a King and the lesson from his demise. He was a lesson. He MUST be a lesson. He was one of the most creative, talented speakers of our time. He was open about his fight. In the end he fought so we would hold onto hope. Please, Don’t let your vice be the reason you don’t see tomorrow.

Doesn’t this just make us stronger?

Stay home.  Endure countless hours with your family members. It is an order.

This is truly one of the only times in my lifetime that I can remember us humans being ordered to live a certain way.  I believe it is the righteous way.

We live in a world, so consumed by material.  We “follow” everyone deemed important.  We forget to look in front of us, next to us, beside us.  We forget to channel our inner circle.  We forget who our inner circle even is.

Who were you closest to today?

That was probably one of the closest people to you in life.  Did you even know how vital they were?  Did you ever take a second and think, if the world was ending, they would still be there?

No, you probably didn’t.  I hope this time for you has made you look in the mirror.  I hope this time for you has been a wake up call.

The people who sit beside you today are your “Day Ones”.  They haven’t left.  In a time where they should be sheltering themselves or their children, they are with you.

Your welcome…

Remember to Breathe

The greatest comfort is that we are ALL in this together.  This moment that we find ourselves in will change the world as we knew it to be.  We are being forced as an entire species to find a way to survive and work together.  We are being forced to look in the mirror and recognize where we could have done more.

We HOPE that a day will come when we have the chance to do better.  We HOPE that we get through this unscathed.  We HOPE for humanity.

If there was ever a time to wake up and listen to the signs around us, it was now.  This is not a rich or poor problem, this is not a race problem, this is something that effects EVERY human on this planet.  This is something that can walk through our door at any moment and bring great sadness and loss with it.  This is something that has stopped our lives.  This virus has managed to make the world stand still.

What power this lesson has over all of us.  We have gone so many years, taking advantage of life itself.  Since the beginning of time, humans have taken this earth for granted.  Every year we grow as a species, we lose sight of what really matters.  Fresh air, a hug from a loved one, health.  These are all things we can say we have overlooked.  We get lost in addiction, depression, envy, and sorrow.  We don’t for one moment think that in one day the entire world as we know it could change.

Well it has.  Look around.  What do you see?  Empty roads, media controlled by a pandemic, grocery stores are empty, and fear looms.  We have now entered a really dark moment in time.

Now BREATHE, we are all here.  We are here at the same moment.  No one is exempt from this hell on earth.

The question now remains, how to we adapt?

As humans, we are resilient.  We can overcome.  History itself tells a story of how our species survived and thrived.

So BREATHE, this too shall pass.

So what do we do in the mean time?

Haven’t you been so busy with not living that you never had time to read that book so many have told you is life changing?

Haven’t you been so busy chasing something in the future that you didn’t have a moment to live for today?

And what about those lessons on youtube you have been planning to watch so you could learn to play that guitar thats been hanging on your wall collecting dust?

Or what about that movie you and your family have been wanting to watch together for months, but you just haven’t had the chance yet?

Weren’t you supposed to call your grandma back last week, but just couldn’t find the time?

Well, I have the best news for you!  Today, ALL of you can.  Everyone of you now has the time to focus on what makes you happy.  Wow, what a concept.  Through all of this chaos, time has slowed down to give us an opportunity to LIVE the right way and focus on what matters.

There is always a reason to smile.

Drink this everyday to strengthen your immune system. FIGHT THE VIRUS.

This is what COVID-19 does to us;

Signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death

This is how we can fight it;

Onions contain antioxidants and compounds that fight inflammation, decrease triglycerides and reduce cholesterol levels — all of which may lower heart disease risk. Their potent anti-inflammatory properties may also help reduce high blood pressure and protect against blood clots

Ginger has a very long history of use in various forms of traditional/alternative medicine. It has been used to help digestion, reduce nausea and help fight the flu and common cold, to name a few. Ginger can be used fresh, dried, powdered, or as an oil or juice, and is sometimes added to processed foods and cosmetics

The combined effects on reducing cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as the antioxidant properties, may reduce the risk of common brain diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia ( 21 , 22 ). Summary Garlic contains antioxidants that protect against cell damage and aging.

Limes are high in vitamin C and antioxidants — both of which may offer health benefits. Eating limes or drinking the juice may improve immunity, reduce heart disease risk factors, prevent kidney stones, aid iron absorption, and promote healthy skin

Today, proponents of honey tout its miraculous healing properties, claiming that it can prevent cancer and heart disease, reduce ulcers, ease digestive problems, regulate blood sugar, soothe coughs and sore throats, and increase athletic performance

Simply add Limes, Garlic, Onions, Ginger, and Honey to a boiling pot.  Allow to simmer for at least 30 minutes.

Drink one cup daily.

Our bodies are strong and resilient.  There are super foods on this earth that can help us heal and strengthen our immune systems.  Let’s do it and SHARE knowledge not panic.

Don’t Panic; So why is everything getting shut down?

The question amongst all of us.  As we watch our lives get thrust into the unknown, we worry, question, and fear for our lives.

They tell us, “Don’t Panic”, and though we so badly want to believe them, we can’t help but use our common sense.

Have you EVER seen the NBA shutdown?  What about Disney, South by Southwest, Coachella?

Have your kids ever been told, school for your child was not an option until further notice?

The answer that we all know to be true is NO.

But “Don’t Panic”

It is true that panic brings out the worst in people, but it also has the potential to bring out the best.  When confined to your homes you may find yourself saying hello to a neighbor.

Panic has the possibility to witness our greatest moment.  So as we all know right now, in this moment, we are in danger.  It is our ability to rise up, be humble, and help each other survive one of the greatest threats to our world as we know it.

Be the Best You, The World is Counting On It.

I AM VENEZOLANO (Spanish/English).

Never could I imagine being separated from my parents, thousands of miles away, only with my young siblings.  Never could I imagine, standing in the streets all day, selling candy, hoping to make money for food.  When kids around the world would be in school, I would be standing in the heat of the sun.  Being forced to leave my home country because it was my only chance for food and shelter.  Though this is a reality I cannot imagine, being from the United States of America, it is a reality for the children in this video.  As I visit the beautiful country of Colombia, I can’t help but notice the many Venezuelan’s in the streets.  They have come to Colombia for the simplest of things; Food, Shelter, and Medical care.  There is a crisis in Venezuela right now that is catastrophic.  I couldn’t ignore what was standing in front of me.  This blog is dedicated to the people who have been pushed into extreme poverty by a corrupt government.  It is dedicated to…..The Venezolanos.
